David Santamaria has been involved in senior Music Education in secondary schools since the early 1990s. He pioneered the VET Music Technical Production program for the Ballarat Cluster of schools in 1995 and has delivered the course continuously through to present time. He was instrumental in creating The College of Sound and Music Production (COSAMP) in 2009 and has travelled the length and breadth of Australia promoting VET Music in secondary schools. Over 170 schools across Australia deliver VET Music using COSAMP as their RTO, using many of the delivery and assessment resources designed by David. He has been involved in the review and design of Units of Competency over the life of 3 Music Training Packages. David brings a huge knowledge of VET Music programs, providing Ballarat students with the opportunity to experience a well designed learning program.
Rex Hardware is a stalwart of the Ballarat Music Scene. For over 30 years he has been the heart of audio production with his Live on Lydiard production and delivering the Live Production program at Federation University. He has have produced a range of well known Australian and international acts as live sound engineer at Australian music festivals including Wangaratta Festival of Jazz, Port Fairy Folk Festival and many more. His Production Management skills have been utilized in a range of creative projects, including the creation of RATNET in 1998, producing Live Webcasts 7 years before the creation of YouTube. Recently he has been involved in production for White Night Ballarat and Ballarat Heritage weekend. Rex’s knowledge of all things music in the region gives the students in this program unrivalled skills and knowledge.
Nathan Santamaria completed his Certificate III in Technical Production from Whitefriars College as part of his VCE program in 2015 while in Year 11 and then a Certificate IV in Sound Production in 2016. He was selected to undertake the prestigious Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne University). Throughout these 5 years, Nathan has made every opportunity to develop his audio skills through recording numerous musicians and commencing his own production company – SAVI Studios. Nathan’s knowledge of contemporary music and artists, along with the latest in live and studio audio is breathtaking. He is a welcome, inspiring young talent to the team.
